Sibiu, again...

I've already told you about my native town... It really has mystery and beauty and a medieval, "Da Vinci Code" kind of scenery...
This is a 8 x 12 inches, acrylics on watercolor paper (Arches, I think... I cover it pretty well, I cannot tell which kind...) and if you like it, give me an email...

Another nude...

I cannot say if the nude is, thematically, my main subject... I don't think so. But I certainly paint a lot of nudes... and still have a lot to paint, I hope.Usually, it happens like this: almost every Saturday, I go to the University of Sherbrooke (where I did study myself) and draw with another 20-25 people after a live nude (usually beutiful)... A "nude session" takes 3 hours of hard work (exhausting!). I do about 12-15 drawings a session, working with acrylic ink and, usually, a pen or a fine brush. At home, I study the drawings, I choose the best (not more than 5-6) and work some more hours on them, using watercolor or/and acrylic ink, pastels or acrylics. Some of the resulting nudes are good, spontaneous stuff, ready to enchant some rich (or even modest, but refined) collector...
This is a 12 x 9 inches acrylic ink & watercolor on Strathmore watercolor paper (always acid free) and anyone with US$ 200 can have it (plus the s/h).

Portraits

Van Gogh - if you'll visit me often you'll hear that name a lot! - loved to paint "modern portraits" and was all the time in the search (and need) for models...for, he said, "the study of the figure is the most useful of all" (letter to Emile Bernard, 23 of June, 1888). For a couple of years now, I'm doing portraits, the summer, in the parks of the city I live in, Sherbrooke (Québec). I'm doing it with a friend, Clement Bolduc (he's drawing with sanguine and pastels, me, I'm working with acrylic inks and watercolor). We kind of complete each other, him doing more the "traditionalist" portrait and me, more the "caricatural" (exaggerated) one...But, judging by this "sample", you can see that I'm not UNKIND to my models...
... and YES, I DO TAKE COMMISSIONSContact me on my email, send me a photo and I'll do my best for you... For CA$ 50, you'll have an acrylic ink & watercolor portrait of 9 x 12 inches, on acid free Strathmore or Arches watercolor paper, about the same as this one... I won't work more than 2 hours on a $ 50 portrait but it will be a nice, good portrait....And if you want to see more portraits of mine, go to:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DNnSyrGxeTI

Winter in the old city...

We all have our own mythical territories... For Faulkner was that inpronouceble county Ikano....too complicated...For me, it's Sibiu, Romania... (google it, you'll see...)

I was born there, lived there most of my life, before imigrating to Canada... It's a beautiful (very) old city (first documentary mention about 1192 or something like that). A lot of medieval building and stuff...

This a landscape of 11 x 14 inches, acrylics on Arches rough paper (acid free, of course) and the price is CA$ 250.

My other blog...

This morning I'm not too smart... I don't know WHY but the "add link" button doesn't seem to fuction...

So, I find this solution to direct those of my readers who wish to know more about me (literary stuff, works in progress, thoughts about painters, writers and life, etc.)...

I certainly hope you'll wish to know more, I certainly hope you'll liked my paintings enough to want to find more...

To do so you can either click on the title, "My other blog", or you type the folowing url on your address line: http://iondanu.wordpress.com/

Anticipated thanks,

Cantaloups & oignons

I always liked to paint food... being a bit of a Gargantua myself (or Falstaff?)...

Like the old Dutch artists (but not so good, yet...) I adore to represent things you can drink or stuff in your mouth... Here I tried to make something decorative from some cantaloups and oignons...

This is a small painting, about 7 x 10 inches, acrylics an paper. Could be your for Ca$ 45 (plus a few $ more for shiping and handling)

Playing...

Sometimes, playing with the materials gives surprisingly good results. Not often, but it happens...

In this "Apocalyptical landscape" I've played with different inks (acrylic and non-acrylic) and some acrylic paste... I could not do exactly the same thing EVER, so this is an unique, original piece...

About 10 x 14 inches, mixte techniques on High Art cardboard and CA$ 350.

Landscape from Bucovina

Bucovina it's the North Eastern region of Romania, more northern than eastern... a beautiful region, with great landscapes and monuments all around (especially the famous monasteries, Voronetz and such...)

This is a 8 x 10 inches painting, acrylics on cardboard, and for CA$ 125 it's yours...

Ascot landscape...

I wish it was the English "Ascot"... I always liked the horses (I'll prove it to you later...) and I'm simply a great fan of Dick Francis (with or without his wife Mary....) But this is the Quebec Ascot, where I live, in the great "cité des rivières" which is Sherbrooke.... A lot of picturesque landscapes, I tell you... and not far away from the US border (about 30 minutes) Vermont, Maine, New Hamshire... This is a 9 x 12 inches acrylics on canvas; contact me if intererested...

Still life

Well, yes, I also paint still life paintings... I even like it (in fact, if I wouldn't like it, I wouldn't do it...Remember the story with Renoir and his teacher?) This is an acrylic painting, 20 x 20 inches, and if you want to know the price just email me...
addenda: Sorry, folks! I just sold it ! But I can still paint a replica (not a copy! I don't do copies... I'm incapable of copying something without changing...) and, only if you like it, you'll buy it (an advantage would be that you can order your dimensions, your color dominant, etc. ) It doesn't always (in fact, almost never!) happen so quick...
