Nude Burnt Omber

Today I've teached and had no time to paint anything so I'll entertain you with an older nude (also kind of "raw" - since it was done in exactly 10 (ten) minutes... The last two I've posted were also "raw" and maybe not so good... Even a daily painter has his/hers bad days...

I post this especially (but not exclusively) for my friend Gene from Spain and I hope he (and you) will like it better. Unfortunatelly for my dear collectors, this one is already sold... As usual, it was a 9" x 12" acrylic ink on Strathmore 300 g paper.

Gene does like it better, Danu, though now he's having trouble figuring out why. That hand is suggestive. I know there's no time for that kind of detail on a quick sketch but fingers might be a nice novelty in a nude... She's a more believable body, this one. I wonder whether I have some unthought-out objection to the convention of the NUDE itself.
Let me think about it....Meanwhile, keep painting, old master.

Wow, "old master"! If it wasn't for other thing than this and I'll continue painting (until I die, as all old masters do...)

and you are right, there is no time for that kind of detail. Since I draw in an organized environment (and not by and FOR me...) I have no say in the time of the pose, or in the pose itself. All I can do is do my best in ten minutes. Just try and you'll see what you can do in that amount of time...

Danu, you said "..also 'raw' and maybe not so good..." ?! I totally disagree, imo, these 'raw' nudes are excellent. I don't think it matters if a painting took 10 minutes or 10 days to paint -- if it's good, it's good. Likewise with the artist himself, so please don't 'berate' your raw works, evidence again of your artistic versatility.

I like this one better and better. The little surprise of that breast, which you gave just the right shape, is, well, sexy. Isn't that the trouble with nudes (for men)--that they cross the frontier of art and become "interested"?

Thanks for your comments (and appreciations) D and G! and A?)

Of course, some eroticism (?), some mixt feelings, are always in the background of a nude. There is no such thing as a "pure" nude... and there is no portrait "pure", without hte difuse feelings of the artist and his/her model intertwined...
