Tamara

This is the portrait of Tamara, a young girl from Sherbrooke. I have painted her a few days ago, in one of the city's parks.

9 x 12 inches acrylic ink and watercolors, on Strathmore watercolor 300 g acid free paper (in fact, all paper I work on is acid free; I'm very careful that my works will last as long as the Piramids...); email-me if interested...

For sale...

... This is a watercolor I did today, very quickly, because it was so hot I thought we were in some tropical place, like Florida... where a lot of rich quebequers take refuge during the winter... It was dry almost before I painted it...

9 x 12 inches, watercolor and acrylic ink on Fabriano 300 g paper; because it's just a quick sketch and I'm kind of high spirited (no special reason... just alive and drinking a Heineken) I will give it away for only CA$ 50...

Not for sale...

... which is bizarre, isn't it? Well, folks, this is a watercolor I did after a picture I liked very much, a photo of my daughter.

When I took the picture she was still my "princess" (she still is, but then it was kind of agreed upon by her, also...) Now, she's big, a college young woman and all... little or no time for his daddy... So, this is personal and a piece of work belonging to my private collection.

But I wanted to show you what I'm capable of doing with a bit of watercolor, on an Arches rough (but acid free) watercolor paper...

Of course, if an eccentric millionaire would want it very much, I WILL sell it (say, 1 million bucks?)

But, it seems, excentric millionaires aren't so numerous any more in my parts of the woods.... They all remained in Florida, and they "like it hot"... (ok, you got me! I'm also a movie buff and I like Marilyn and jazz...)

An exception...

... something a bit older, but of which I'm kind of proud, a lanscape from Waterville, a small town near Sherbrooke where I lived a couple a years back...

It's a 24 x 36 inches acrylics on canvas, my old landlord owns it (but I can always make a better replica...)

Rustic stuff...

... can be, sometimes, quite picturesque and nice to paint... this is a corn storage small house (in Romanian we call it "patul" which is a diminutive for "bed" in English... is like the corn's little bed...) I've painted it after a photo I took in 2004. I liked the rare green color, on a sunny day of September...

9 x 12 inches acrylic inks and watercolors, on Fabriano Artist 300 g watercolor paper.
CA$ 250 and it's yours for keeps...

"La belle province"...

..."the beautiful province"... that's Quebec, for those who didn't get it yet...

Apart from the local patriotism, it's very true. It's a superb country, a country of lacs and forests, of great rivers and nice, gentle hills...

I had some hard time, at the beginning, adapting to my new society. But I always loved the Quebec landscapes, enough beautiful landscapes for 2-3 normal painter's lives...

This is a 10 x 13 inches acrylics and watercolor on Arches 300 g acid free paper (rough) and you can have it for only $CA 150.
Sorry, folks! SOLD! (but a replica is always possible...)

Draughtsman, drawer, draftsman, dessinateur...

I always took the greatest pride when somebody (especially somebody I trusted the judgement) told me that I'm a good draughtsman (or drawer or draftsman)... If the Queen of England would ask me (say I have saved her life or something...) how she can repay me, I would tell her: "Make me a "Draughtsman of the Empire"... with a 2000 $ per month retirement fond... A lot better then "Sir" Ion Vincent Danu, Cavalier or even Baron of the BE... (and it's BE not BS...)To draw with lightning speed, to catch the essence of an image reality puts before you, to link spontaneity with synthesis... When it happens... well, it's much better than a great, successful intercourse...
This is a 9 x 10 inches ink drawing on paper; if you like it, give me en email and we'll talk... I won't draw the skin out of you, I promise...

On a fishing trip...

I went on a fishing trip, with 2 friends, in the Northern Québec (far enough to be in the "tundra"); we kind of shivered the nights but the days were superb, almost summer... lots of lacs, fire-treas, rocks and not a soul other than us...

I didn't catch a fish but I took a lot of pictures and I painted some watercolors... This is one of them. I kind of like it... something of the scrawny fire-trees (les "epinettes noirs") resilience is, maybe, in the image...

As usual, it's a 9 x 12 inches acrylic ink and watercolor, on Fabriano 300 g paper, US $ 250 to please you...Note, the 06 of Sept. 07: SOLD.
